The year, we are excited to offer a guitar class. Students will learn the basics of reading music in first position, rhythmic notation, open and barred chords, finger techniques, and strumming patterns. Students will have the opportunity to work individually and in small groups, with the possibility of public performances. Students will also study music theory and guitar music from a historical perspective. This will be accomplished through research, written and oral presentations, and performance. Through this study, students will understand the cultural and artistic relevance of particular compositions throughout history, and the role of the musician in a given societal context. Please check out our PTMS Music website at (http://ptmsmusicfoundation.weebly.com/) for a calendar of events, forms, and more information. If you’d like to be involved with our PTMS Music Foundation, please send me an email and come to our monthly meetings to help support our music program. Students can also log onto Google Classroom for copies of their music, recordings, and other forms.
