Chris JohnsonBand and Orchestra Director Julian "Chris" Johnson has been living in Hawaii since the age of 6. He attended Moanalua High School where he played the saxophone in the marching band, jazz band, concert bands, All-State Concert and Jazz Bands, and he earned a music scholarship to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He took his first band director job on the island of Molokai, teaching 7th through 12th grade band and choir. After four years on Molokai, he moved to the Big Island and taught band and guitar at Kealakehe High School in Kona for 11 years. He has played clarinet with the Kona Music Society and the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra, and he played flute, clarinet, and saxophone for the Aloha Performing Arts Company in shows like "Fiddler on the Roof,""Anything Goes," and "The King and I." He enjoys performing music, photography, diving and spearfishing, golfing, surfing, hiking, and hanging out with his wife and 3 kids.
